Jake Paul has been suspended indefinitely following his knockout defeat by Anthony Joshua. Paul took on former heavyweight world champion Joshua in Miami on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Joshua, who is reportedly close to agreeing to a long-awaited fight against Fury in Riyadh in 2026, was made to work far harder than he would have liked to extinguish the challenge of Paul. However, the fight was waved off in the sixth round after a barrage of shots from Joshua.<\/p>\n
But Paul, who barely landed a shot, showed commendable heart to last as long as he did. The American has since undergone surgery after his jaw was broken in two places by the final blow.<\/p>\n
And the Florida Athletic Commission has now suspended him indefinitely, meaning he will have to be medically cleared to fight again in the state. But with Paul not planning to fight again until next summer, this will not hamper his career.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t the best performance,\u201d Joshua admitted. \u201cWe have to give Jake his respect for trying and trying and trying, but he came up against a real fighter tonight that\u2019s had a 15-month layoff, who shook off the cobwebs.<\/p>\n

When the time comes, some people are there to get knocked out. I said it and that\u2019s exactly what happened.<\/p>\n \u201cI just took my time and I got the job done within the time limit of eight rounds. I refuse to get hurt, I refuse to acknowledge getting hurt.<\/p>\n \u201cAs soon as he hit me, I stood there and I tried to hit him back. At the end of the day there\u2019s going to be one winner and it\u2019s me tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n While Paul said: \u201cDouble broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days. I\u2019m feeling good, that was fun,\u201d he told Netflix after the fight. \u201cI love this sport. I gave it my all\u2026 I had a blast.<\/p>\n \u201cAnthony\u2019s a great fighter, I got my ass beat but that\u2019s what this sport\u2019s about. I think my jaw is broke by the way\u2026 it\u2019s definitely broke.
