In a recent interview, the actress reflected on growing up with constant guidance that shaped not just her artistry but also her sense of self.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe love for dancing, singing and work ethic came from my mom\u201d<\/p>\n

Tracing the roots of her artistic sensibilities, Madhuri<\/a> shared how deeply her mother influenced her personality. \u201cI think the art I got from my mom\u2014the love for singing, the love for dancing. She was very emotional, and I think I get that from her. I\u2019m a very emotional person. I get attached to people very fast,\u201d she said while speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit.<\/p>\n

She added that her discipline and professional integrity were also inherited. \u201cMy work ethic comes from my mom because that\u2019s what she taught me. She also had a better sense of humour than me\u2014she was very quick to respond. She had a great sense of self, which she taught me. That you have to be who you are. Don\u2019t be in a mould. Break a mould.\u201d<\/p>\n

Facing early criticism before Tezaab<\/p>\n

Recalling the early days of her career, Madhuri acknowledged that she was often subjected to unsolicited remarks about her appearance. \u201cA lot of people told me when I had just started\u2014do this, how is your nose, your this, your that,\u201d she said.At the time, she would turn to her mother for reassurance. \u201cI used to go and say, \u2018Mom, they\u2019re saying this.\u2019 And my mom would say, \u2018Don\u2019t worry about it. Once you have a successful movie, that\u2019s the very thing they\u2019ll love about you.\u2019\u201dMadhuri admitted she found it hard to believe then. \u201cI used to say, \u2018Mom, this is not going to happen.\u2019 She\u2019d say, \u2018Don\u2019t worry. Do you trust me?\u2019 I said yes. And she said, \u2018Then you see what happens.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter Tezaab, nobody said anything\u201d<\/p>\n

The turning point, she revealed, came with Tezaab. \u201cAfter Tezaab, nobody said anything about being skinny or being this or that. People just accepted me for who I am,\u201d she said.The experience shaped the advice she now offers younger actors. \u201cEven today, I tell the new girls\u2014don\u2019t try to be in a mould. Don\u2019t say this is how a heroine should look. If you\u2019re different, that\u2019s a uniqueness you have. Play on that.\u201d <\/p>\n

How she dealt with noise and setbacks as a teenager<\/p>\n

Asked whether the criticism affected her as a teenager, Madhuri admitted it did\u2014but only briefly. \u201cI used to go to my mom and say, \u2018They\u2019re saying this or that.\u2019 And she\u2019d say, \u2018Calm down.\u2019\u201dWhile failures could sting, she chose not to dwell on them. \u201cSometimes, when you work so hard, it does affect you\u2014you think maybe something was missing. But I didn\u2019t dwell on it. I knew I had done my best. I worked really hard. The rest is up to people, whether they like it or not.
