Struggling Kyogo Furuhashi<\/a> is “frustrated” after his Birmingham City disappointment, admits boss Chris Davies.<\/p>\n The comment comes amid claims Celtic wouldn’t turn down the chance to bring the striker back.<\/p>\n The forward was a revelation at Parkhead after being plucked from the J-League by Ange Postecoglou<\/a> in 2021 \u2013 netting 85 goals in 165 appearances for the club and winning eight trophies. He would swap the Scottish Premiership for Ligue 1 and join Stade Rennes in January.<\/p>\n However, he lasted just six months in France before returning to the UK with Birmingham last summer<\/a>. But things haven’t gone to plan for the 30-year-old. He has scored just one goal for the Blues and has yet to net a league goal this term.<\/p>\n Kyogo now faces the prospect of missing out on Japan’s World Cup squad. Davies admits it has been a tough season for the striker – who has made his feelings clear.<\/p>\n He told Birmingham Live<\/a>: \u201cIt has been a frustration for Kyogo, a frustration for himself more than anyone else, and I can see that in him. He really wanted to come here, play regularly, score goals and get back in that Japan squad after a difficult few months in France.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was only a few months because he was still doing great at Celtic before he went off there.<\/p>\n \u201cGoing back to the stat about the amount of chances we\u2019ve created, he\u2019s had quite a few of those and someone told me that in terms of big chances created in the league he is up there as well.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd he hasn\u2019t capitalised on those chances. He knows that, I\u2019ve told him that he needs to take those chances and moments.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s good enough to do it, he\u2019s shown that, but he needs to go and make it happen now. No one else is going to do it for him, he needs to do it himself.\u201d<\/p>\n With Celtic looking for a new frontman in the winter window, speculation has swirled over the prospect of a return. Pundit Andy Halliday doubts if the striker is the “right profile” for Wilfried Nancy<\/a>\u2019s system – but reckons the Hoops would be keen to “upgrade” their frontline with the returning hero.<\/p>\n He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: “It seems as if he wants his striker to be more of a link up player. Listen, he is certainly an upgrade on what they have got.<\/p>\n “If there is an opportunity to bring him back I don\u2019t think Celtic would turn it down.
