That’s my favourite Indian. But there’s a restaurant called Spring near Somerset House which I really like too. Brett Anderson

There’s a place called Diwana where Brett and I first went to about 35 years ago on Drummond Street. It’s Indian vegetarian and holds a place in my heart. It’s cheap, vegetarian and good food. Mat Osman

Spring at Somerset House

Spring at Somerset House

The best pub in London is…

I like the Flask in Highgate. It feels like a proper pub where you go for a walk round there and a drink at the pub. The Princess Louise is the best-looking pub in Holborn, but the Flask is all about dogs and roaring fires. Mat Osman

I’d say the Cork and Bottle because I’ve spent more time drinking at that pub than any other place in the world! Brett Anderson

Best London place to visit is….

Just off Leicester Square, there’s a French church with some Jean Cocteau murals. Nobody knows they’re there and they’re so incredible and spooky. You can only see Christ’s feet and Roman soldiers are gambling with dice. But they’re so beautiful and free to see. Mat Osman

My favourite thing to do is cycle with my son from the edge of Hyde Park to the National Gallery and go through Green Park without ever going on the road. Brett Anderson

If you were to take over London, what would you change?

I would free up the River Thames, I think it’s despicable that big swathes of it are made up of gated communities. Every Londoner should be able to walk the whole length of the Thames.
