Merseyside Police has issued a warning to people in Wirral. The force<\/a> is urging homeowners in Wirral<\/a> to be vigilant following a recent spate of burglaries <\/a>targeting e-bikes and motorbikes.<\/p>\n Over the past month, it has received reports of garages or outbuildings being broken<\/a> into at addresses in Newton, Moreton, Greasby and Birkenhead<\/a>. While enquiries are ongoing into all these incidents, officers are urging residents to take important steps to protect their home.<\/p>\n This includes looking at the possibility of getting CCTV or doorbell cameras, as well as alarms and better lighting to help reduce the chances of becoming victims of burglary.<\/p>\n Detective Sergeant Jon Head<\/a> said: \u201cSadly we have seen increased reports of e-bikes and motorbikes being stolen from homes and we want local residents to be vigilant.<\/p>\n \u201cWe know parents want to give their children something special at Christmas and may have already bought legal and safe e-bikes, but remember to keep them secure.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to encourage the safe and legal use of e-bikes and scooters, but please make sure they are protected from burglars. Being a victim of burglary has a massive impact on the families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through.<\/p>\n \u201cI would continue to encourage people to reports any suspicious behaviour so we can take action and we will act on information we receive.<\/p>\n \u201cWe also urge people to come forward if you know anything about suspected burglary and the sale of stolen goods where you are. We\u2019ll act on all information provided.<\/p>\n \u201cAs part of our Winter of Action campaign, our officers will be out on visible patrols in areas known for illegal e-bike activity.
