From there, it\u2019s a few days full of longstanding traditions\u2014but one rule seems to supersede all.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Whereas many of us view the holidays as a time to kick up our feet and relax with our families, while the royal family is, indeed, surrounded by blood relations, calling it relaxing would be a stretch. The royals are on what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/royalty\/873686\/king-charles-strict-christmas-timetable-unspoken-rule-revealed\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hello!<\/a> described as a \u201cstrict timetable,\u201d and \u201cThere\u2019s an unspoken rule for guests\u2014do not arrive late,\u201d veteran royal biographer Robert Jobson told the outlet.\n<\/p>\n<p> Sandringham House.<br \/>\nIndigo\/Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_7-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThere is no grace period,\u201d he continued, mentioning that the royals complete \u201cthe odd custom dating back to Edward VII of being weighed on antique jockey\u2019s scales,\u201d and after that happens, \u201cguests are on the clock.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_11-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThey change for a formal lunch, served by royal staff in the dining room,\u201d Jobson outlined. \u201cAfterwards, most go on an afternoon walk\u2014one of the few moments when the schedule loosens up. But even then, they are on a timer. Then, on Christmas morning, the family takes their famous walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate\u2013but, as Jobson put it, \u201cWhat many do not realize is that the King and his family will have been to church once already that morning for a private service, away from the cameras and onlookers.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> From there it\u2019s their traditional Christmas lunch, which royal biographer Ingrid Seward told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/royals\/kate-middleton-prince-william-wont-36339160\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Mirror<\/a> takes place in Sandringham\u2019s Green Dining Room. \u201cThere\u2019s a long mahogany table, and the room is adorned with exotic arrangements of flowers and ferns in Victorian style,\u201d she said. After a difficult couple of years, 2025 is ending \u201con a very positive note for the King,\u201d Jobson said, referring to Charles\u2019s recent news that his cancer treatment would be scaled back in 2026. \u201cThe good news regarding his health will undoubtedly lift his spirits and those of the people around him,\u201d he added. \u201cIt will have brought reassurance to both him and his family.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Of the King and Christmas, \u201cIt will be good for him to have a chance to relax among his loved ones,\u201d Jobson continued (if one can call the strict timetable of Sandringham Christmas relaxing). \u201cIt will be a very special time.
