Bristol City have issued a brief update over the status of injured goalkeeper Radek Vitek.<\/p>\n

The Manchester United loanee has been an ever-present for the Robins this season, but missed out of the win over Middlesbrough on Saturday with an injury.<\/p>\n

There had been concerns that the Czech youth international could be ruled out for a lengthy period of time \u2013 and it may even be the end of the season for the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n

But Bristol City<\/a> in a statement on Tuesday lunchtime have confirmed the extent of the injury, and it is not as bad as first feared.<\/p>\n

The statement said: \u201cBristol City can confirm Radek V\u00edtek has had a small procedure on his knee.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect the Manchester United loanee to be available in February. He will complete his rehabilitation at Bristol City.\u201d<\/p>\n

Max O’Leary was handed his first competitive start <\/strong><\/a>since last term’s play-off campaign against Boro after Vitek was ruled out with what the Robins confirmed pre-match to be a knee injury.<\/p>\n

“This was a wrong step,” the Gerhard Struber had said. “When you see it, you would not [have] realised something had gone on. This was nothing. Sometimes you cannot describe everything, so this is football.<\/p>\n

“He loves to play for this club. He loves to play in this team. He knows, and he is really grateful, about the last few months, how he has grown with his football time and game time. Now we realise the injury, this is football, and you have to be also clear in these moments and hopefully find on Monday the right next step.”<\/p>\n
