1) Woman thought she was ‘seeing things’ after ‘awful’ stabbing<\/strong><\/p>\n A close-knit community woke-up this morning to find blood on their doorstep. At around 11pm on Monday, December 22, Merseyside Police were called to Breck Road in Anfield<\/a>, at the junction of Oakfield Road and Belmont Road, to reports that a man, aged in his 50s, had been attacked by another man. The victim was stabbed and has been taken to hospital<\/a>, where he is in a stable condition. However, the attacker has not been found yet. An investigation<\/a> is underway to find him and police officers<\/a> remain at the scene carrying out enquiries. This morning, blood splatters<\/a>, along with tissues and a flip-flop, were spotted <\/a>on the pavement<\/a> outside the Anfield Balti House, along with a black Nissan Delta taxi. READ HERE.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n 2) Another important milestone as major new supermarket set for Merseyside town<\/strong><\/p>\n A major supermarket chain is set to open a brand new store in one part of Merseyside. Plans are nearing completion for a \u2018state-of-the-art\u2019 Lidl store in Kirkby town centre, according to the retail giant, after it agreed a deal with Knowsley Council<\/a> for a development at Telegraph Way. Knowsley<\/a> Council has confirmed it is currently in discussions with Lidl<\/a> about the retailer investing in Kirkby<\/a>, as part of a wider regeneration project. Since the council purchased the town centre back in 2019, \u00a343.8 million has been invested in Kirkby and 94,000 sq ft of new retail space created including a new Morrisons supermarket and petrol station. Big brand names have also been attracted to the area with Home Bargains, Taco Bell, Pure Gym, The Coffee House and Willowbrook Home and Fashion already established. READ HERE.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n 3) Major housing scheme to move forward on land once backed by Liverpool legend<\/strong><\/p>\n Construction of hundreds of new homes on the edge of Liverpool city centre<\/a> could begin within weeks after the city council signed off on proposals for a site once backed by a Liverpool FC legend. After an initial proposal to build 300 homes on land at St Anne Street and Fox Street in Everton fell through four years ago, the site has lain unused. Elatus Homes had secured the public backing of Robbie Fowler<\/a> \u2013 known as God<\/a> by Reds fans for his goalscoring feats over two spells at the club \u2013 with his likeness plastered on hoardings surrounding the site. That scheme fell apart, however, and never came to pass. Now, city planners have given their consent for more than 250 new apartments to be built on the land by ASBBJ Real Estate UK Ltd. Paul Tunstall, agent on behalf of the applicant, said the developer wanted to start work \u201cas soon as they can\u201d. READ HERE.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n 4) What ‘selfless’ girl, 9, is doing to help ‘people with nothing’ on Christmas Day<\/strong><\/p>\n Most children across Merseyside will be waking up on Christmas Day to open their presents and play with their new toys, but not nine-year-old Ella Cave who has asked her parents if she can spend December 25 helping those less fortunate than her. Ella’s proud mum Lisa Cave, 42, from St Helens,<\/a> contacted the ECHO<\/a> earlier this week to tell us what the schoolgirl will be doing on Thursday, so of course we had to go along to meet the incredible little girl. The nine-year-old told the ECHO<\/a> how she will be on Mill Street in St Helens<\/a> town centre in her parent’s red bus to give out hot food and presents from 3pm onwards to homeless people for no other reason than she is a kind person who “loves to help others”. READ HERE.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n 5) Division over new girls’ school would have been ‘unacceptable’ say Muslim leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n Division of a community over the siting of a new school to serve hundreds of Liverpool girls would have been \u201ccompletely unacceptable and self-defeating\u201d, it has been claimed. A new 800-place school in L8<\/a> is to go forward after successful talks between Liverpool Council<\/a> and education ministers. When the proposals were announced in February, there were concerns the plans could lead to the relocation of the historic African Caribbean Centre<\/a> that has stood off Upper Parliament Street for half a century. Star Academies \u2013 a mixed multi-academy trust that runs a diverse network of primary and secondary schools nationwide \u2013 will operate the Eden Girls\u2019 Leadership Academy, Liverpool on a site neighbouring the centre with a Muslim faith designation.
