Queen Camilla\u2019s children choosing not to spend Christmas at Sandringham helps to normalise the Royal Family, according to royal commentator Laura Windsor.<\/p>\n

Tom Parker Bowles has confirmed that he and his sister Laura Lopes will not be joining their mother and King Charles at Sandringham this Christmas<\/a>, citing an \u201cevery other year\u201d arrangement and their own family plans.<\/p>\n

Ms Windsor, who advises Royal Families in the Middle East, exclusively told GB News she believes the decision helps the monarchy appear more relatable, rather than weakening it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt normalises them, and they have to do that in order to survive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She argued that the late Queen Elizabeth II embodied tradition in a way that insulated the institution from pressure to change, but that the landscape is now different.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the Queen was alive, we loved the Queen; she brought tradition with her, and there was no way that that was going to change,\u201d Ms Windsor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now that she\u2019s no longer with us, it\u2019s King Charles\u2019s responsibility to make sure that they are more modernised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Windsor claimed Charles has long been interested in modernisation, but that the moment for it has arrived now.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe already was thinking about that before,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was just waiting for the chance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather than presenting the royal Christmas as a perfectly sealed family unit, she suggested it is beneficial for the public to see the same kinds of practical choices that exist in ordinary families.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt normalises them, and that\u2019s what we like,\u201d Ms Windsor said. \u201cWe like to relate. It\u2019s nice to see that they\u2019re human.\u201d<\/p>\n

The absence of Mr Parker Bowles and Mrs Lopes also highlights the reality that Camilla\u2019s family is blended and operates on its own rhythms, even with her now Queen.<\/p>\n

Ms Windsor suggested the monarchy can no longer afford to present itself as remote or untouchable, particularly when public attitudes to hierarchy have shifted.<\/p>\n

\u201cKings and Queens were considered Gods at one time, and therefore that\u2019s why we couldn\u2019t touch them,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

She argued that a pedestal image now risks alienating the public rather than impressing it.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, if they carry on with that image, it\u2019s not just not going to work with modern society, and it\u2019s casualness,\u201d Ms Windsor said.<\/p>\n
