A man who struck another man over the head with an ornament during a ‘viscous’ attack has been jailed. Michael Hobson, 50, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, December 19, where he pleaded guilty to Section 20 grievous bodily harm.<\/p>\n
The court heard that on May 24, Hobson and his co-defendant, Jodie Murray, went to the victim\u2019s address and, once inside, carried out an assault. The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone, as well as a head injury, as a result of the attack.<\/a><\/p>\n Police were called to the scene and, following enquiries, arrested Hobson and Murray, 42.<\/p>\n Hobson, of Hornby Road, Walton<\/a>, was sentenced to one year and three months in prison<\/a> and was also made subject to a three-year restraining order.<\/p>\n Last month, Murray, of Fazakerley<\/a> Street in Liverpool city centre<\/a>, was sentenced to a 12-month community order.<\/p>\n In a victim impact statement read to the court, the man described both physical and psychological harm caused by the assault. He said he had been advised to undergo surgery to realign his fractured eye socket but decided against it due to concerns about the procedure and potential scarring.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI received both physical and psychological injuries. My socket was fractured, and I was advised by my doctor to have an operation to realign the eye but I\u2019m not going to because I\u2019m afraid of having the operation and did not want a lasting scar.<\/p>\n \u201cAn ornament was smashed over my head which has caused memory loss, and I cannot remember what happened in June or July.<\/p>\n \u201cDespite my physical injuries the assault has had more of psychological impact on me. It has affected my sleep, and I cannot settle in my own home.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I hear the slightest noise, I become worried and look to see if anyone is there.
