{"id":65167,"date":"2025-05-01T08:15:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-01T08:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/65167\/"},"modified":"2025-05-01T08:15:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T08:15:08","slug":"man-tries-to-abduct-four-year-old-in-birmingham-police-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/65167\/","title":{"rendered":"Man tries to abduct four-year-old in Birmingham &#8211; police appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westmidlands.police.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Midlands Police<\/a> have launched an investigation into an incident where a man tried to grab a child&#8217;s arm on a main road in Birmingham.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The four-year-old was walking with a woman along Bristol Road South, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/local-hubs\/birmingham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Longbridge<\/a>, when they were approached by a male at around 11.30am on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The man attempted to grab the child&#8217;s arm but was stopped by the woman.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/newsletters\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/newsletters\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Get the latest headlines delivered straight to your inbox with the Express &amp; Star\u2019s free newsletter<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>After failing to grab the child, the man fled towards a McDonald&#8217;s restaurant on the same road.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully the four-year-old was not injured, with both the child and their family being supported by specialist officers while police continue their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>CCTV is being reviewed in the area, and police are also speaking to people in the area as part of the investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inspector Matt Shaw, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/local-hubs\/birmingham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> Police, said: &#8220;We understand how distressing the incident will be to the community but rest assured we are taking this incredibly seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity at the time to speak to us if you haven\u2019t already.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;d ask everyone in the area to support us by coming forward with any information they may have and to check door-bell cameras or dashcams in their cars, for any footage which may assist our enquiries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have stepped up our patrols in the area.
