{"id":651822,"date":"2025-12-24T04:52:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T04:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/651822\/"},"modified":"2025-12-24T04:52:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T04:52:12","slug":"west-yorkshire-police-faces-funding-gap-of-nearly-10m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/651822\/","title":{"rendered":"West Yorkshire Police faces funding gap of nearly \u00a310m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Alison Lowe, Deputy Mayor for West Yorkshire, has launched a survey asking residents about a proposed rise in the police element of Council tax.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  If the plans are approved, homeowners in a Band A property would pay an extra \u00a310 per year, or 19p per week; homeowners in a Band B property would pay an extra \u00a311.67 per year, or 22p per week; homeowners in a Band C property would pay an extra \u00a313.33 per year, or 26 per week; homeowners in a Band D property would pay an extra \u00a315 per year, or 29p per week; homeowners in a Band E property would pay an extra \u00a318.33 per year, or 35p per week; homeowners in a Band F property would pay an extra \u00a321.67 per year, or 42p per week; homeowners in a Band G property would pay an extra \u00a325 per year, or 48p per week; and homeowners in a Band H property would pay an extra \u00a330 per year, or 58p per week.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Most West Yorkshire residents live in Band A, Band B or Band C properties.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Lowe said: &#8220;West Yorkshire Police is facing a funding gap of\u202falmost\u202f\u00a310m\u202fnext year, despite taking measures to reduce it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Funds raised by\u202fan increased\u202fprecept would cut this by\u202falmost \u00a33.5m, moving us towards a stronger financial position where we can continue to keep our communities safe, just and inclusive.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It is so important that everyone across the county gives their views on funding for our vital police services.\u202f\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We know neighbourhood policing and police visibility really matter to residents and we are continually working to build public trust and confidence in the service.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  According to Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, crime levels have fallen across the county &#8211; with more than 5,000 fewer victims in the last 12 months.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;However, we know from conversations with residents it doesn&#8217;t always feel like crime levels are down and we are continually working to build public trust and confidence in the police service,&#8221; she added.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We also know that police presence and neighbourhood policing are both concerns for residents.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Residents can take part in the consultation at www.westyorks-ca.gov.uk\/news\/have-your-say-on-the-police-budget-in-west-yorkshire\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It runs until midnight on January 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Alison Lowe, Deputy Mayor for West Yorkshire, has launched a survey asking residents about a proposed rise in&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":651823,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8814],"tags":[748,393,4884,1860,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-651822","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-leeds","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/651822","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=651822"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/651822\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/651823"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=651822"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=651822"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=651822"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
