Earlier this year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepienews.com\/whos-applying-to-southamptons-new-india-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Southampton <\/a>became the first of this new tranche of campuses to open its doors, with several others close behind.<\/p>\n<p>As the TNE boom continues, several universities have revealed the independent providers that are helping them set up their campuses in India. Meanwhile, other providers have expressed an interest in this space.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s our list of who\u2019s working with who. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s opening a campus in India?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nine UK universities have confirmed they are joining the TNE scramble in India. They are:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The University of Southampton<\/li>\n<li>The University of Liverpool<\/li>\n<li>The University of York<\/li>\n<li>The University of Aberdeen<\/li>\n<li>The University of Bristol<\/li>\n<li>Coventry University<\/li>\n<li>The University of Surrey<\/li>\n<li>Lancaster University<\/li>\n<li>Queen\u2019s University Belfast<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Who are they working with?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Oxford International Education Group (OIEG) \u2013<\/strong> Southampton has confirmed it <a href=\"https:\/\/thepienews.com\/uni-of-southampton-and-oieg-team-up-to-launch-india-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worked with OIEG<\/a> in setting up its campus in Gurugram, which opened earlier this year. OIEG provided the financial backing and the professional services needed to set up the campus<\/p>\n<p><strong>India Business Group \u2013<\/strong> Another provider assisting Southampton on the ground, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindiabusinessgroup.com\/site\/people\/profile\/department%5Bindiabusinessgroup%5D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">India Business Group<\/a> is providing the university with strategic support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emeritus<\/strong> <strong>and Daskalos<\/strong> \u2013 The University of York has confirmed it is working with the edtech platform <a href=\"https:\/\/emeritus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emeritus<\/a> to set up its Mumbai campus. Working alongside Emeritius is Daskalos \u2013 a new venture from Atul Khosla, the founder and vice-chancellor of Shoolini University, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/atulkhosla1_daskalos-emeritus-activity-7378667673079169024-31RI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> by Khosla in a LinkedIn post. Khosla has said Emeritus and Daskalos\u2019s partners include \u201cthree Russell Group Universities, one of the oldest universities of the world, a top tier US university and a leading Australian university\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Khosla has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/atulkhosla1_daskalos-activity-7407013724856815616-wUMj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed on LinkedIn<\/a> that Daskalos and Emeritus are working with the University of Liverpool on its Bengaluru campus, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/atulkhosla1_nep-india-daskalos-activity-7385091484326322176-g2qt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Bristol<\/a> on its Mumbai campus. Meanwhile, it appears that the University of Aberdeen may be another institution working with the duo, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ventureloop.com\/ventureloop\/job\/2970504\/emeritus\/professor--head-of-business-management-university-of-aberdeen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">job posting<\/a> advertising an Emeritus job at the university.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study World \u2013 <\/strong>The education infrastructure company <a href=\"https:\/\/studyworldgroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Study World<\/a> is working with Coventry on its GIFT City campus, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deccanherald.com\/india\/gujarat\/coventry-university-to-establish-campus-in-gujarats-gift-city-3758703\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">local news reports<\/a>. The company\u2019s group chief operating officer Kate Gerrard is quoted as saying: \u201cStudy World has over two decades of experience in delivering a wide range of educational services in partnership with leading international universities around the world. This association with Coventry University in India will be highly beneficial for students in India and the wider region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>GUS Global Services \u2013<\/strong> The University of Surrey has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surrey.ac.uk\/news\/university-surrey-unveils-plans-international-branch-campus-ibc-gift-city-gus-global-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> it it is working with GUS Global Services, with GUS leading on strategic support services such as Indian student enrolment support, advice on the local market and campus and operational management.<\/p>\n<p>For their part, Lancaster University and Queens University Belfast have remained tight lipped on which providers \u2013 if any \u2013 they are working with as they explore setting up campuses in India. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Which other providers could be eyeing up opportunities?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>GEDU Global Education \u2013<\/strong> the UK-headquartered company has already invested in several campuses in GIFT City, making it a prime provider to step in and help institutions set up overseas branches in India.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UniQuad \u2013<\/strong> an arm of ECA, which has previously partnered with UK universities to run overseas campuses and other TNE projects, UniQuad is a new division with a specific goal of introducing university partners to India\u2019s evolving educational landscape, meaning it\u2019s well placed to help in this area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amity \u2013<\/strong> the private Indian provider is already working with major British institutions \u2013 such as Queen Mary University of London \u2013 on program articulation arrangements in India, as well as having MoUs with others on things like joint research and dual degrees. Could it be looking to expand into new ventures?<\/p>\n<p><strong>British Council<\/strong> \u2013 while the British Council isn\u2019t a private provider, it is a key strategic enabler for institutions looking to set up in India.
