Coventry City are claimed to have slapped a whopping \u00a3200million price tag on star striker Haji Wright following an inquiry from West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s according to the Daily Telegraph<\/a> which also states that the Hammers have also looked into the availability of fellow Sky Blues front man Ellis Simms.<\/p>\n Frank Lampard\u2019s former club have made a new number nine their priority ahead of the upcoming transfer window after agreeing to send flop Niklas Fullkrug to AC Milan on loan, reports talkSPORT<\/a>.<\/p>\n The broadcaster further claims that \u201cwith moves for Manchester United\u2019s Joshua Zirkzee and Promise David looking difficult to pull off, the Hammers could dip into the second tier,\u201d claiming USA internationals Wright and Josh Sargent \u2013 who have scored eight and six goals for Coventry<\/a> and Norwich respectively this season \u2013 are on their wanted list.<\/p>\n The Daily Telegraph adds: \u201cAs an alternative, Nuno (Espirito Santo) is interested in Coventry City<\/a> \u2019s Ellis Simms although it would appear highly unlikely that the promotion-chasing Championship leaders would even contemplate selling the 24-year-old former Everton striker.<\/p>\n \u201cThere has also been an enquiry for Simms\u2019s team-mate Haji Wright which was summarily dismissed by Coventry who quoted a price of \u00a3200m for the American international.\u201d<\/p>\n Turkish club Besiktas has also been linked with interest in Wright but when asked about speculation surrounding both Simms and Wright, Lampard told CoventryLive on Friday: \u201cI\u2019m very keen to keep hold of them because they\u2019re two very, very big players for us, amongst others.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if we want to do what we want to do this season, we have to keep our best players and look at how can we add to make the squad even more competitive and even stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n The Sky Blues are in the strongest position they have been in in the last 25 years to secure a return to the Premier League<\/a> and are not going to do anything to jeopardise the chance of automatic promotion after getting to the halfway stage of the campaign 11 points clear of the play-off places at the top of the league.<\/p>\n Therefore, unless City are offered crazy money for Wright and have a ready-made replacement guaranteed to come in, it is highly unlikely that they would even entertain a conversation with another club at this pivotal point in the club\u2019s history.<\/p>\n What do you make of City’s stance on Haji?
