Matty Edgwell has become a father for the first time as he welcomed a daughter with his wife Lara.<\/p>\n

The former P.E. and Science teacher – who was crowned the winner of the 2023 series – took to Instagram to share his exciting news.<\/p>\n

Alongside sweet snaps of his newborn baby he penned, ‘A picture that felt a million miles away this time last year,’ as he carried his tot out of the hospital in a car seat.<\/p>\n

‘Welcome to the world our beautiful little Lila. Both Mum and baby doing amazing. In awe of how well Lara done throughout the pregnancy and she’s already the best Mum to our little girl,’ he continued.<\/p>\n

‘We didn’t have to wait long for our first Christmas<\/a>. Merry Christmas everyone.’<\/p>\n

Matty, 30, popped the question to his now wife, Lara, in Sorrento, Italy, just shortly after he won the Channel 4 show, two years ago (Lara pictured holding their newborn)<\/p>\n

Former Great British Bake Off<\/a>\u00a0contestants were quick to flock to the comments and offer their well wishes.<\/p>\n

Matty’s colleague Dan Hunter added: ‘Beautiful Christmas present!! Huge congratulations to you both! Hope everyone is doing well, you need a new stocking now for tonight! Best wishes to you all \u2764\ufe0f’<\/p>\n

Illiyin Morrison, who starred in the 2024 series: ‘Ahhhh massive congratulations \u2764\ufe0f’<\/p>\n

Andy Ryan from who participated in the show in 2024 wrote: ‘Congratulations to you both mate. Have a wonderful Christmas with Lila.’<\/p>\n

Nicky Laceby, who took part in the 2023 series, said: ‘Awww this is such wonderful news. Have the most beautiful 1st Christmas together with little Lila xxx’<\/p>\n

Cristy Sharp, who was in the same series, wrote: ‘Congratulations to you both! Hope you\u2019re enjoying every minute of the baby bliss xxx’<\/p>\n

While the 2024 winner Georgina Elizabeth commented: ‘Awwww congratulations both! What an amazing Christmas you will have!! \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f’<\/p>\n

The new dad also uploaded Oasis smash hit, Lyla, alongside his social media post which is a sweet nod to his daughter’s moniker.<\/p>\n

Matty was crowned the winner of the Great British Bake Off in 2023<\/p>\n

Matty, 30, popped the question to his now wife, Lara, in Sorrento, Italy, just shortly after he won the Channel 4 show, two years ago.<\/a><\/p>\n

He also praised Lara for encouraging him to sign up to the competition in the first place.<\/p>\n

After being named the winner, he said: ‘I don’t know what to say… everyone said you should go on Bake Off and I thought it was a throwaway comment and never really listened to it. I never thought I would be on the show let alone win it!’<\/p>\n

He sweetly added, mentioning Lara: ‘I hope GBBO might just change my life a little bit, but being a PE teacher is something I really enjoy at the moment.<\/p>\n

‘I loved being in the tent and another of my happiest life moments was when I got engaged in Sorrento to my fianc\u00e9e Lara.<\/p>\n

‘I am not sure what’s next for me, but my next big baking project is making our wedding cake. I am just going to keep enjoying it.’<\/p>\n

The pair tied the knot in May 2024 in South Farm, Hertfordshire.<\/p>\n
