In his evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainians were marking a fourth Christmas under Russia\u2019s full-scale war and that Russia had rejected a proposed Christmas truce and struck Ukraine\u2019s energy system on December 24.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy stated<\/a> that Russia \u201cnot only rejected the proposal to stop the killings at least on this holy day,\u201d but also carried out a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine\u2019s energy infrastructure, which he said caused power outages, while continuing assaults along the front line.<\/p>\n

He said Ukraine valued Pope Leo XIV\u2019s continued attention to diplomatic efforts aimed at ending Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine and shared<\/a> the pontiff\u2019s disappointment that Russia had refused a recent proposal for a Christmas ceasefire.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that people around the world do not remain silent,\u201d Zelenskyy said, adding that it was important not to allow Russia \u201cto normalize cruelty, terror and aggression against our people.\u201d <\/p>\n
