A new yellow weather warning has been issued for Wales for Christmas<\/a> Day as heavy winds are expected, according to the Met Office. Transport delays and power outages can be expected for Thursday, December 25 as a yellow wind warning is set for parts of Wales.<\/p>\n Areas in Wales will see strong winds from 4am until midnight tomorrow with gusts exceeding 55mph in some places. The easterly wind will also bring a chill in the air as temperatures plummet to nearly freezing across the country.<\/p>\n The Met Office forecast for Wales on Thursday states: “East to northeasterly winds will become particularly strong and gusty during Christmas Day, with peak gusts fairly widely of 45-55 mph, but 55-65 mph along some exposed coasts and to the west of prominent hills.<\/p>\n “Given the more unusual wind direction, this may lead to some disruption to transport and power supplies. Large waves will be an additional hazard on some coasts.” For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter<\/a> here<\/p>\n The yellow weather<\/a> warning has been issued for:<\/p>\n Those hoping for a white Christmas may be disappointed as the weather is expected to stay dry throughout the day with clouds and sunny spells.<\/p>\n The UK Health Security has also warned that the expected low temperatures could have minor impacts on health and social care services across the UK including an “increased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people” and a “greater risk to life of vulnerable people”.<\/p>\n A Wales specific forecast from the Met Office for Thursday states: “Christmas Day will start quite cloudy again, but plenty of sunshine will develop during the day. It will remain blustery, with gales possible over hills. Feeling rather chilly.
