Speaking on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast,<\/a> the former Wimbledon finalist said: “The question is\u2026 and he was questioning this after the US Open. I don\u2019t know that he can train the way he used to.<\/p>\n

“I would suspect that you can\u2019t train that psychotically, and I mean that in a good way, at 38 years old. And if you can\u2019t do that, can you get your body to hold up over the course of two weeks at a major, over best-of-five?\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The answer this year was no. To his own admission. It was like \u2018I don\u2019t know if my body can do it. When I get to the semis am I going to beat these guys if my body is damaged goods by the time I get there?\u2019 That is the whole thing for this conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Djokovic is tied with Margaret Court on 24 Grand Slams across his career. However, he has not won a Grand Slam since the 2023 French Open, although he did win an Olympic gold medal in the Paris 2024 games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has an eye on defending his golden title in 2028, when the games go to Los Angeles. Djokovic made this ambition clear when he said: “I\u2019ve always had this throughout my life and my career.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve always had a schedule in my head for a year or more, what I want, how I want it.\u00a0Since I\u2019ve achieved absolutely all possible goals, I said about the 2028 Olympics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I wanted to play for so many more years.
