For some businesses, Christmas is a time to kick back and relax – but for this Sheffield coffee shop<\/a> it’s a time to celebrate the community.<\/p>\n

Opened in August 2022, Chantrey Press was founded by local residents Paul and Lindsay Melbourne and has been serving the locals of Woodseats<\/a> – a “real community” in Sheffield<\/a> – ever since.<\/p>\n

The coffee shop has always offered a “cosy feel” but especially on Christmas, staff explained how it was so important to continue offering the same “community love” at a time when people may need it most.<\/p>\n

Open from 9am until 12noon, Barista Holly explained how running the Christmas shift was particularly special. Holly said: “The community feel in Woodseats is insane. There is so much humanity in this nook of Sheffield and opening the cafe – even for a little bit – is a way to really serve the locals who love us, as much as we love them.”<\/p>\n

Holly, whose mum had kindly volunteered to “pot wash” and man the till, explained that Christmas is not always an “easy period” for some of the more elderly locals.<\/p>\n

Holly said: “So many customers come in and open up about their feelings – whether they are grieving or simply alone on Christmas. Opening the cafe allows for those who may feel a bit lonely to come and be part of a family.”<\/p>\n
