The Medusa restaurant in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/waterloo\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Waterloo<\/a> is closed following the<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/fires \" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\"> blaze<\/a> in the kitchen yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">There were no injuries following the<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/fires \" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\"> incident <\/a>at the Greek restaurant on St Johns Road, the venue said. It is understood a fire took hold in the open kitchen following a fryer malfunction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Management said the restaurant will be closed for &#8220;at least a few days&#8221; while the damage is assessed. Images shared by the venue show the kitchen blackened as firefighters respond to the incident with hoses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In a statement to social media, management at Medusa said: &#8220;Due to a malfunctioning fryer there was a fire at Medusa this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;No one was seriously hurt but we will be closed for at least a few days while we assess the damage and try to put Medusa back together again. Fire crews were called to the blaze at around 8.50pm on December 23, following reports that a grill had caught fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Footage shared on social media <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/restaurant-open-running-after-kitchen-33119571\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">shows flames at the rear of the building,<\/a> with thick black smoke billowing into the air.
