{"id":654477,"date":"2025-12-25T17:53:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T17:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/654477\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T17:53:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T17:53:15","slug":"new-age-tesla-having-a-very-bad-year-in-the-european-union","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/654477\/","title":{"rendered":"New Age | Tesla having a very bad year in the European Union"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                              &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n                             <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"igm-fluid lazy_bk\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/e2d56d0885282ed9f5c02fa3bd1b5e59.jpg\" alt=\"Image description\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n                              |  AFP file photo                             &#13;<\/p>\n<p>Sales of cars made by Tesla, the company run by Elon Musk, have slumped nearly 40 per cent in the European Union this year, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers\u2019 Association showed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The dive happened even though sales of electric cars across the bloc rose 28 per cent in the first 11 months of the year from the same period in 2024, according to the ACEA figures.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese manufacturer BYD registered the biggest jump in sales, up 240 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Electric cars now account for 17 per cent of the EU car market, ACEA said, though it noted stronger consumer preference for hybrid-electric vehicles, which have 35 per cent of the market.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla sold a total 1,29,024 of its cars in the EU in the January to end-November period \u2014 well down from the 2,10,869 it sold last year.<\/p>\n<p>BYD was gaining on Tesla, having sold 110,715 cars so far this year, compared with 32,562 for the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla has suffered reputational damage in Europe from its association with billionaire Musk, who backed US president Donald Trump before a falling-out, and who has endorsed Germany\u2019s far-right AfD party.
