Daily Record<\/a>: “I feel like I’m dreaming, it has been the most special Christmas – literally the gift of life. The staff have been incredible. They’ve been working non-stop through Christmas Day to get the baby here safely.<\/p>\n“I’m so grateful to them, and I want to thank them for everything.”<\/p>\n
At the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, proud parents Hannah, 35, and Jack Bowers-Orso, 31, welcomed the birth of their baby boy at 2am.<\/p>\n
The baby boy, who is yet to be named, was due to arrive on January 14 but made a special festive appearance on Christmas Day, weighing 6lb and 4oz.<\/p>\n
Mum Hannah said: “It was an extraordinary surprise and it all happened so fast, but happily we were all prepared. We just can’t wait to get to know him.”<\/p>\n
Festive cheer spread among the wards as Kevin, Amelie and Orla Dunne visited the hospital with a sweetie basket to visit mum who is an on-duty gynaecologist.<\/p>\n
Then, at 2.31am parents Hannah Quinn, 21, and Kerr Smith, 26, from Edinburgh, welcomed their first baby into the world.<\/p>\n
Their baby girl, who is yet to be named, tipped the scales at 6lb 4oz, when she arrived at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, West Lothian.<\/p>\n
The parents were hoping to make it home in time for Christmas dinner with their new addition.<\/p>\n
Hannah said: “She is the best Christmas present anyone could ask for.
