Use the comment button on the bottom left to have your say

Their departures have also proven to be a big problem as the Reds have been short of options and lost a lot of players who knew the system already, with there perhaps being too much change in one go.

Going forward, Liverpool will need to be a bit more careful in terms of outgoings as they need leaders who have an understanding of what Slot is asking already.

Waiting to sign Marc Guehi was a huge mistakePhoto by Sebastian Frej/Getty Images

The latest, and perhaps biggest, error of 2025 was the way Liverpool handled the Marc Guehi transfer saga.

Instead of signing him early on, they decided to wait until the last minute to try and save some money, with this proving a big error when the deal collapsed.

The Reds’ defence has been poor at the start of the season too and he would have walked right into it and likely solved a lot of things, showing how it has come back to bite them.

Now, it looks like he will leave on a free in the summer, but Liverpool face stiff competition to get him, so there is a good chance he never ends up joining and goes somewhere else instead.

 Join Our Newsletter

Receive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox

2025 is drawing to a close and Liverpool can learn from many mistakes they made.
