{"id":655457,"date":"2025-12-26T07:35:28","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T07:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/655457\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T07:35:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T07:35:28","slug":"total-solar-eclipse-to-be-visible-in-portugal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/655457\/","title":{"rendered":"Total solar eclipse to be visible in Portugal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a statement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cienciaviva.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ci\u00eancia Viva<\/a> \u2013 the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture \u2013 notes that this total eclipse will take place on August 12, 2026, but in the case of Portugal, you will only be able to witness this phenomenon in all its glory at the Montesinho Natural Park in Bragan\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unable to go to Bragan\u00e7a to see the total eclipse, you will have to settle for the partial version of the phenomenon, which can be seen in the rest of the country. <\/p>\n<p>According to Ci\u00eancia Viva, the last total eclipse observed in Portugal was in 1912, and the next one is only predicted for 2144. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA total solar eclipse occurs when the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun are perfectly aligned, and the Moon completely obscures the solar disk for a few moments,\u201d explains Ci\u00eancia Viva in a statement. \u201cIn 2026, for about 26 seconds, day will turn into night in the northeast of Tr\u00e1s-os-Montes. In the rest of the continental territory and in the autonomous regions, the eclipse will be partial, but still with a very significant occultation of the Sun.
