The monarch spoke about the \u201cpilgrimage\u201d of life during his annual speech, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/royals\/top-royal-broke-christmas-present-36164897\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">which was filmed at Westminster Abbey.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The 77-year-old spoke of the wise men from the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/christmas\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Christmas<\/a> story who faced a \u201cphysical and mental challenge\u201d while finding \u201cinner strength\u201d during their mission. The broadcast featured images of a number of royals, including <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/queen-camilla\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Queen Camilla<\/a>, the Princess Royal, and the Duchess of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">But according to royal biographer Robert Hardman, it was the prevalence of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/prince-george\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Prince George<\/a> and Princess Charlotte that stood out. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/prince-william\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Prince William<\/a> and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/kate-middleton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Princess Kate<\/a>\u2019s eldest children are said to have stepped <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/royals\/princess-kate-left-floods-tears-36344109\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">up their position in The Firm in recent months.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Hardman says Sophie Wessex appeared in the broadcast \u201cas often as the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/Kate-middleton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Princess of Wales<\/a>\u201d, although he recognised Kate has had to \u201cjuggle\u201d her family life, professional life, and her own cancer battle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Writing in the Daily Mail, Hardman said: \u201cIt was a nod from the King to the importance of the Edinburghs to the small, core royal unit, alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, the indefatigable Princess Royal and the Duke and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/birgitte-duchess-of-gloucester\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Duchess of Gloucester<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1_Royal-family-attend-their-annual-Christmas-service-at-Sandringham.jpg\" alt=\"Louis, Charlotte and George getting gifts from the public\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Prince George and Princess Charlotte are said to have stepped-up their roles in the Royal Family(Image: Tom Maddick \/ SWNS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIt was also good to see a carefully calibrated, enhanced role for both Prince George and Princess Charlotte.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In November George made his first appearance at the Festival of Remembrance, stood alongside his mother. William missed the event as he was travelling home from COP30 UN Climate Change Conference in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Royal commentator Katie Nicholl says the Prince and Princess of Wales were keen for the 12-year-old to attend in order to prepare for \u201cthe role that lies ahead\u201d. As king, George will one day be head of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/armed-forces\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Armed Forces<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">An insider told Nicholl: \u201cIt is all part of a carefully considered plan to bring George onto the public stage in a way that the family is comfortable with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">They added: \u201cAs second in line to the throne, George needs to understand the importance of occasions like this. It was deemed appropriate and significant for him to be there, particularly in his father\u2019s absence. Both William and Catherine felt this was the right moment for George to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2_GettyImages-2245189132.jpg\" alt=\"The Princess of Wales and Prince George at the Festival of Remembrance\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Princess of Wales and Prince George at the Festival of Remembrance(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward recently described George as a \u201cvery impressive young man\u201d, while suggesting that his \u201canxious\u201d father is keen to take a different approach to his upbringing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Speaking to The Telegraph, she said: \u201cHe is a very impressive young man, but I think William is anxious to bring him up differently to how he himself was brought up after his mother died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cHe is very conscious of not wanting George to be seen as an elitist kid; he just wants him to be as ordinary as he can be. I remember [the Princess of Wales] once saying that they always discuss these appearances with George, that he is never pushed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWilliam is doing what he can to get him to look at the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">world<\/a> in a certain way, but you can see how good George was with those old soldiers \u2014 he wants to do all these things.
