Manchester City midfielder Rodri could make his return to the team against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Spain international had his previous campaign ruined by an anterior cruciate ligament injury. After making his return at the end of last season, the 29-year-old has suffered with hamstring issues this term that have again limited his involvement.<\/p>\n

Rodri has only made four Premier League<\/a> starts and has been sidelined since the 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth on November 2.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the trip to the City Ground, Guardiola shared a positive update on the player’s condition.<\/p>\n

“Rodri is much, much better. Available or not, we’ll decide today,” he said in a pre-match interview with club media<\/a> in lieu of the usual press conference.<\/p>\n

The news was less positive on Jeremy Doku and John Stones. “Doku and John still aren’t there, but soon they’ll be back,” said the City boss.<\/p>\n

Guardiola’s side visit Sunderland on New Year’s Day in their next outing before a potentially key clash with Chelsea<\/a> on Sunday, January 4.<\/p>\n

City confirmed the players returned to training at the City Football Academy on Christmas<\/a> evening to prepare for the Forest fixture.<\/p>\n

They have the chance to go back to the summit of the Premier League table with a win there, as they start the day two points behind leaders Arsenal.
