{"id":656646,"date":"2025-12-26T22:00:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T22:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/656646\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T22:00:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T22:00:31","slug":"guitarist-and-keyboard-player-perry-bamonte-dies-aged-65","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/656646\/","title":{"rendered":"Guitarist and keyboard player Perry Bamonte dies aged 65"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765806376_309_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 gUePlo hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/e83b9d20-e299-11f0-a8dc-93c15fe68710.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"eager\" alt=\"Getty Images Perry Bamonte of The Cure performs at Pine Knob Music Theatre on June 13, 2023 in Clarkston, Michigan\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 hLdNfA\"\/>Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Perry Bamonte re-joined The Cure in 2022 for more live shows having initially been part of the band&#8217;s roadcrew from 1984<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The Cure guitarist and keyboard player Perry Bamonte has died aged 65, the band has said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">In a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecure.com\/news\/2025\/12\/perry-archangelo-bamonte-1960-2025\/\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 iCaRzc\" rel=\"noopener\">statement on The Cure&#8217;s website,<\/a> the band said the British musician died &#8220;after a short illness at home over Christmas&#8221;, saying they were making the announcement with &#8220;enormous sadness&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">It read: &#8220;Quiet, intensive, intuitive, constant and hugely creative, &#8216;Teddy&#8217; was a warm hearted and vital part of The Cure story.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Having been part of The Cure&#8217;s road crew from 1984, Bamonte was asked to join the band after the departure of keyboardist Roger O&#8217;Donnell in 1990.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He went on to play guitar, keyboard and bass on five studio albums, featuring on tracks including Friday I&#8217;m In Love, High and A Letter To Elise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Bamonte also appeared on The Cure&#8217;s live albums Paris and Show, both released in 1993, and performed at more than 400 shows over the course of 14 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Bamonte later became the bass player in supergroup Love Amongst Ruin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He re-joined The Cure in 2022, playing with them until 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Former Cure drummer Lol Tolhurst, posted a tribute on Instagram,  saying: &#8220;So sad to hear about Perry Bamonte passing&#8230;
