Patrick Dorgu volleyed Manchester United<\/a> to victory over Newcastle with his first goal for the club at Old Trafford last night, and then admitted: \u2018I didn\u2019t know I could do that!\u2019<\/p>\n

Dorgu switched from left wing-back to right wing as part of a reshuffle by Ruben Amorim<\/a>, and rewarded the United boss with the decisive goal midway through the first half to fire his team up to fifth place in the table.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was a good hit,\u2019 said Dorgu, who joined United from Lecce in February. \u2018I didn’t know I could do that, but I was very happy to score my first goal in this stadium as well. It was amazing.<\/p>\n

\u2018I just looked at the ball, saw it drop, and I just hit it. I’ve been practicing in training, so I think that’s what helped me.\u2019<\/p>\n

Last month Amorim claimed that he felt the anxiety every time Dorgu touched the ball, but the Denmark international said: \u2018I just took what he told me to work on my confidence and stuff. I think I did well today.\u2019<\/p>\n

Amorim admitted that United \u2018suffered\u2019 in the absence of seven senior players and then lost Mason Mount<\/a> at half-time.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018I had so many games here saying we played very well and didn’t get the three points, today was the opposite. I think we suffered together and we managed to win the game.\u2019<\/p>\n

Eddie Howe was left disappointed as Newcastle once again struggled to score away from home. \u2018We\u2019ve been really flat,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re finding a way to concede goals and we\u2019re not scoring the goals that we should at the other end – it\u2019s a deadly mix for us.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, United are paying close attention to James Garner’s contract situation at Everton as they explore a potential midfield addition next month.<\/p>\n
