There will however be some periods of rain or showers and windier spells. Temperatures will probably be below average for this period overall and so wintry hazards remain a possibility in places.”

For more news, follow us on Facebook and X but never miss the latest top headlines and sign up to our daily newsletter here.

After a calm spell of weather over Christmas, the New Year is bringing a change with wintry hazards…

[8816
1006,748,172752,1102,918,4884,97249,14683,1142,712,2462,16,15,741
0":"post-657780","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-edinburgh","8":"tag-aberdeen","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-cairngorms","11":"tag-edinburgh","12":"tag-glasgow","13":"tag-great-britain","14":"tag-highlands","15":"tag-lanarkshire","16":"tag-met-office","17":"tag-scotland","18":"tag-snow","19":"tag-uk","20":"tag-united-kingdom","21":"tag-weather
["GET
