The 2025 festivities looked different from usual, with a new route, party, and location announced as an alternative to it not happening at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/liverpool-pride-cancelled-2025-devastating-31795563\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\"> event and march<\/a> were initially cancelled for the year, with the organisers citing &#8220;significant financial and organisational challenges&#8221; and insisting they &#8220;listened to the community&#8221; by cutting ties with sponsor Barclays. This decision created further issues with staging the annual event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">LCR Pride Foundation, the organisation behind <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/lgbtqia\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Pride in Liverpool<\/a> and the city\u2019s annual March with Pride, then &#8220;regretfully&#8221; announced in a lengthy statement <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">shared with ECHO<\/a> that the event on Saturday, July 26, would not go ahead<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, Sahir, the city\u2019s oldest <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/lgbtqia\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">LGBTQ+ charity<\/a>, managed \u201cto turn things around\u201d after stepping in to facilitate the event at seven weeks&#8217; notice. Liverpool Pride chair Amanda Hilton <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">told the ECHO<\/a> that the board has recently been \u201crefreshed with new trustees targeting key skills\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">She <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">told the ECHO<\/a>: \u201cI have had many discussions with Sahir and discussions with potential sponsors. The council have been kept in the loop, and they will be key to achieving anything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe are also mindful that whatever we do is community-led, and it&#8217;s vitally important that it&#8217;s properly funded. This year&#8217;s difficulties with so many Prides, including our near neighbours in Manchester, will very much be forefront of our minds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cQuite simply, what we can achieve will be dictated by support both financially and volunteering. We remain committed to contributing what we can to maintaining a community-led Pride for Liverpool and to uplifting our LGBTQ+ communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cAt the same time, we must be realistic about our capacity as a charity that many people rely on each day for practical support and emotional well-being.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re also focused on securing funding for our core services, which continue to be our highest priority.
