The wanted man, identified as 54-year-old Jonathan Baker<\/a>, remains at large.<\/p>\n

A man and woman were injured in the attack in the Chippendale Avenue area of Bangor on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The man has been named as 54-year-old Jonathan Baker.<\/p>\n

Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries and have now been discharged.<\/p>\n

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.<\/p>\n

The suspect, who was armed with a hammer and a knife, has been at large since, with the public being warned not to approach him.<\/p>\n

Police investigating a report of a stabbing in the Chippendale Avenue area of Bangor have released an image of the suspect.<\/p>\n

Today the PSNI released a further image of the man they wish to speak to.<\/p>\n

Baker is pictured in the Coniston Road area at around 3.55pm on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Lindsay Fisher said: \u201cWe are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare and today I am appealing directly to Jonathan to make contact with police.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have conducted a number of searches at different properties and areas as we actively seek to locate him.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers also remain in attendance at Chippendale Avenue, the scene of the stabbing.<\/p>\n

\u201cA man aged in his 20s and a woman aged in her 50s both received serious injuries and have been discharged following treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Superintendent Fisher continued: \u201cWe now believe that Jonathan was wearing a navy blue jacket with the brand name \u2018Helly Hansen\u2019 written on the back in white.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is described as being approximately 5ft 10 ins in height, with short, dark hair and wearing blue jeans, and dark trainers with white soles.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough we do not believe there is a serious risk to the wider community, we would continue to remind members of the public not to approach Jonathan if they see him, but to create a safe distance and contact police immediately on 101, or 999 in an emergency. The reference number to quote is 914 of 24\/12\/25.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week a local councillor said there was a sense of fear in the community.<\/p>\n

Independent Unionist Wesley Irvine, who lives near the scene, said the incident had changed the mood in the area at Christmas.<\/p>\n

“It stokes a bit of fear among people and people are wary about rapping doors until such time as they can apprehend him,” he said.<\/p>\n

“On Christmas Day there were a lot of people travelling from house to house to see family and friends and there is certainly some fear about.<\/p>\n

“It certainly came as a big surprise, I live not far from Chippendale Avenue, it’s a quiet residential area of established family homes and people would be long established in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n
