According to Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB), 8.3% of locations across the nation are considered badly littered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">But the state of our streets vary massively across the country. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/two-scots-cities-named-among-35881428\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Litter Link opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Litter <\/a>peaked during the Covid pandemic with the places with a &#8220;significant presence of litter&#8221; reaching 10%. In 2020, bin strikes saw rubbish pile up in Glasgow while Edinburgh faced a similar scenario during the festival in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">According to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/scotlands-litter-league-table-shame-36461745\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Scottish Daily ExpressLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Scottish Daily Express<\/a>, the issue is &#8220;significantly worse&#8221; in deprived areas, while litter was &#8220;more frequently observed&#8221; in urban areas with 15.1% of high density residential areas being badly littered, according to KSB&#8217;s annual report into the issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Over 40% of litter in Scotland is related to smoking with 15.5% being paper related.
