Biscuit bricks and candy canes take centre stage in Christmas showdown<\/p>\n

GINGERBREAD houses took centre stage when ten departments from a luxury Edinburgh hotel came together for a festive team-building challenge filled with creativity and a touch of icing sugar.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The challenge made its return for the second year in sparkling fashion as staff at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa took part in a gingerbread house decorating contest.<\/p>\n

Now proudly on display in the hotel\u2019s foyer, each house reflects the unique character of creative staff members \u2013 from snow-covered igloos and biscuit trains to sleeping gingerbread men and candy cane fences. Guests can view the sweet constructions throughout December.<\/p>\n

With contributions from 10 departments, including Front of House, Spa, Sales, Housekeeping, Engineering and Events, the project captured the spirit of teamwork that runs throughout the hotel.<\/p>\n

One participating staff member said: \u201cThe hardest part was getting the structure to stay upright. We also struggled with making sure the icing came out smooth. Keeping it consistent throughout the decorating process was a real challenge \u2013 but with a strong sense of teamwork and Christmas music, we\u2019re so happy with how ours turned out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cTaking time out of the day to build a festive gingerbread house with our team was a great way to connect outside of our usual busy work routine. It was lovely to contribute to something creative together to bring some holiday cheer to the hotel. It\u2019s these little moments that promote a positive team spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each team faced the same basic kit, but when it came to decorating, no two creations were alike. While some teams added edible snowmen and sleighs, others built entire winter villages.<\/p>\n

A particularly memorable contribution came from the Front of House team. One team member joked: \u201cAfter too much Christmas cheer, our gingerbread men fell asleep on our roof. Other than that, we worked together and enjoyed the journey through the snow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deciding how to decorate proved as challenging as construction itself, with endless options for sweets and styles. From elegant minimalism to maximalist candy explosions, the final results speak to each team\u2019s imagination.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa said: \u201cThis kind of event brings out the very best in our teams. You can really feel the energy and creativity that flows when colleagues come together for something playful and meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also an opportunity to showcase our people\u2019s personalities outside their uniforms. There\u2019s a lot of talent and humour behind the scenes, and it\u2019s brilliant to see that shine through in the gingerbread houses.\u201d<\/p>\n

The activity marks one of several festive initiatives designed to reward hard work and strengthen the hotel\u2019s culture of appreciation as the busy Christmas season gets underway.<\/p>\n

Hotel leadership credits the success of the challenge to the enthusiasm of staff across all levels and departments \u2013 a reflection of the inclusive and creative environment cultivated throughout the year.<\/p>\n
