Liverpool looks set to miss out on a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo after it emerged last week that Manchester City was his preferred destination.<\/p>\n
The winger has been among the best players in the Premier League<\/a> this season, registering nine goals and three assists for a struggling Bournemouth<\/a> side. A \u00a365 million ($88 million) buy-out clause in his Bournemouth contract will be active for 10 days from January 1, and all the signs suggest that City will trigger that option<\/a>.<\/p>\n That would leave Liverpool looking elsewhere for a new attacker \u2013 should the Reds decide that they need one next month \u2013 but mid-season deals are never the easiest to pull off, so they will probably need to be be realistic and accept that a deal to sign a player of Semenyo’s caliber won’t be possible.
