{"id":660416,"date":"2025-12-29T14:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T14:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/660416\/"},"modified":"2025-12-29T14:26:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T14:26:11","slug":"warning-of-snow-and-gales-on-new-years-day-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/660416\/","title":{"rendered":"Warning of snow and gales on New Year&#8217;s Day in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Heavy snow and gale-force winds have been forecast for north and north-east Scotland at the start of the new year.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Met Office has issued <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.metoffice.gov.uk\/warnings-and-advice\/uk-warnings#?date=2026-01-01\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a yellow &#8220;be aware&#8221; warning, external<\/a> from 06:00 on Thursday &#8211; New Year&#8217;s Day &#8211; until midnight on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It said there could be up to two inches (5cm) of snow at low levels by Friday, with four inches (10cm) in some places.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Up to eight inches (20cm) of snow could accumulate on higher ground, with as much as 12 inches (30cm) on the hills.
