{"id":660932,"date":"2025-12-29T19:58:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T19:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/660932\/"},"modified":"2025-12-29T19:58:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T19:58:14","slug":"work-on-missing-link-cycleway-to-begin-on-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/660932\/","title":{"rendered":"Work on &#8220;missing link&#8221; cycleway to begin on Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The segregated cycle lane will link the cycleway at the Leeds Road\/Shipley Airedale Road junction with the cycleway that was completed earlier this year as part of the major works in Bradford city centre.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The new section will use the wide pavement and an unused\u00a0bus layby on Leeds Road between Chapel Street and East Parade to create a segregated cycleway linking the two sections.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The space where the new cycle lane will be built (Image: T&amp;A)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The works will be carried out during the day with a one-off night shift for resurfacing work on East Parade. Access for businesses will be maintained.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The work is scheduled to begin on Monday (January 5) will be completed by the end March.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The space where the new cycle lane will be built (Image: T&amp;A)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The work is being funded by Community Infrastructure\u00a0Levy and Active Travel England Fund via the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Both pots of funding have been ringfenced and can only be spent on this type of project.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A Bradford Council spokesperson said: \u201cThe council would not be able to spend any of this funding on day-to-day Council services, like bin collections or social care.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Councillor Alex Ross Saw, Executive for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: \u201cThis work will see the connection of this final section of cycleway. The scheme has been designed to take cyclists off the main carriageway, making it safer and easier for cyclists.
