Talk to Me<\/a> directing duo\u00a0Danny and Michael Philippou<\/strong> are back this summer with the highly anticipated horror movie Bring Her Back<\/strong>. Bloody Disgusting\u2019s exclusive Summer Preview 2025 sneak peek at the Philippous\u2019 sophomore effort gives an ominous new peek at Two-time Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins<\/strong> (The Shape of Water) in the film.<\/p>\n

A24 will release\u00a0Bring Her Back in theaters on May 30, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The upcoming A24 horror movie is rated \u201cR\u201d for \u201cStrong disturbing bloody violent content, some grisly images, graphic nudity, underage drinking and language.\u201c<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the official plot synopsis\u2026<\/p>\n

A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips<\/strong>, and\u00a0Mischa Heywood<\/strong> also star in the film written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman.<\/p>\n

Marketing has done an incredible job shrouding Bring Her Back in mystery, and that\u2019s by design. \u201cI watch trailers, I remember every shot in a trailer,\u201c Michael told press at a recent event<\/a>, \u201cand I find myself, when I\u2019m watching the movie, waiting for those moments. And you\u2019re like, \u2018Okay, well, I know that they\u2019re alive, because that hasn\u2019t happened in this scene, you know?\u2018 And it\u2019s always that balance, because you want to sell the movie, but then you also don\u2019t want to spoil it. A24 is on the same page. Trust me, the trailer doesn\u2019t show the half of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While that means we still don\u2019t know much about the horror that\u2019ll ensue, other than the trailer<\/a> looking suitably creepy, we do know that the inspiration behind the film is deeply personal. Danny recalled how a tragic loss mid-writing influenced the brothers\u2019 newest film.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea of a never ending grief cycle is terrifying to me, and seeing raw grief like that is terrifying,\u201d he explains. \u201cAnd that just happened while we were writing. So, that became part of the screenwriting process, and it always is a way to express those things, or look at those things in a fun way. Hopefully it\u2019s fun \u2026 it\u2019ll probably not be.\u201d<\/p>\n

That indicates we\u2019re likely in store for another brutal horror knockout from the Philippous this summer, supported by Bloody Disgusting\u2019s bloody new look at Sally Hawkins\u2019 character above.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
