Hollywood superstar George Clooney<\/a> and his well-known wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney have acquired French citizenship along with their twin children, according to an official decree published in the French government gazette.<\/p>\n

Clooney, now a dual US-French citizen, has previously praised France’s strict privacy laws, especially when it comes to children.<\/p>\n

“I love the French culture, your language, even if I’m still bad at it after 400 days of courses,” the 64-year-old actor told RTL radio early in December.<\/p>\n

“Here, they don’t take photos of kids. There aren’t any paparazzi hidden at the school gates. That’s number one for us.”<\/p>\n

Happiest in their home in France, says Clooney<\/p>\n

The couple lives\u00a0with their 8-year-old twins on a farm in southern France.<\/p>\n

Clooney’s\u00a0wife, a British-Lebanese\u00a0human rights lawyer<\/a>, speaks fluent French.<\/p>\n

The couple owns a property in southern France and Clooney had told RTL that their French home<\/a> “is where we’re happiest.”<\/p>\n

In a separate interview with\u00a0Esquire magazine, Clooney said that he was afraid that living in the US his 8-year-olds might never “get a fair shake at life” and living on a farm in France would give them a much better life.<\/p>\n
