Really the only thing that can be in any way magical after the festive season is a good sprinkling of <strong>snow<\/strong>, and when we say Manchester is in for a blanket of the white stuff in early January, we mean it.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.metoffice.gov.uk\/forecast\/gcw2hzs1u#?date=2026-01-02\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/weather.metoffice.gov.uk\/forecast\/gcw2hzs1u#?date=2026-01-02\" data-action=\"text_cta_1\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">Met Office<\/a> has issued its 10-day forecast, with the North West set to see<strong> freezing temperatures<\/strong> in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p> <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-83907\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"snow train tracks manchester\" width=\"1200\" height=\"967\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/dylan4photography-xKlMzjXyeGc-unsplash.jpg\"\/>Credit: Dylan 4 Photography via Unsplash <\/p>\n<p>The Met Office forecast for the North West, including Greater Manchester, is as follows:<\/p>\n<p> This evening and tonight (29 December): <\/p>\n<p>Generally cloudy to start this evening, but clearer spells developing more widely through the night. Remaining dry but turning colder with a frost in places. Minimum temperature -1 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p> Tuesday (30 December): <\/p>\n<p>Largely fine and dry with plenty of sunny spells after a<strong> cold and frosty<\/strong> start. Light winds and turning very cold overnight with a widespread frost and fog patches. Maximum temperature 6 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p> Outlook for Wednesday (31 December) to Friday (2 January): <\/p>\n<p>Remaining generally dry to end 2025 with sunny spells. Turning <strong>even colder from New Year\u2019s Day<\/strong> with an increased risk of wintry showers and a brisk northwesterly wind. Frosts overnight.<\/p>\n<p>And the wintry showers don\u2019t stop there. The snow moves upward to cover the city centre and areas west of Manchester on <strong>6 January<\/strong>, with areas of Wales and Lancashire also seeing some snow falling.<\/p>\n<p>Then, we get to <strong>7 January<\/strong>, when a <strong>large band of light snow<\/strong> is set to fall all along the west of England, covering the entirety of Wales, over Manchester and up to Scotland.
