{"id":662480,"date":"2025-12-30T12:51:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-30T12:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/662480\/"},"modified":"2025-12-30T12:51:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T12:51:13","slug":"spain-orders-30-turkish-hurjet-trainers-to-replace-f-5s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/662480\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain orders 30 Turkish Hurjet trainers to replace F-5s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spain has contracted Airbus Defence &amp; Space and Turkish Aerospace to deliver a new advanced jet training system for the country\u2019s air force, including the supply of 30 of the latter\u2019s Hurjet trainers.<\/p>\n<p>Designed to replace Madrid\u2019s fleet of outdated Northrop F-5 fleet, the Hurjets will arrive in an initial configuration over the 2028-2029 period.<\/p>\n<p>Those aircraft will then be adapted with Spanish-specific content and redelivered to the air force from the second half of 2031 until 2035.<\/p>\n<p class=\"picture\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Hurjet-c-TAI\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/114781_hurjetctai_564340.jpg\"   loading=\"eager\" class=\"lazyloaded\" width=\"5472\" height=\"3648\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A first pair of Hurjets will be modified at Airbus\u2019s existing facilities in Getafe, near Madrid, while conversion of the remainder will take place at an as-yet undisclosed site to be established elsewhere in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The modification process includes the installation of Spanish-developed mission and training systems, remote interface units, audio management systems, avionics computers, and mission recording or weapon simulators.<\/p>\n<p>Airbus will also develop a new ground-based training system, alongside other Spanish providers, to come on-stream from 2028 at Talavera la Real air base in the southwest of the country.<\/p>\n<p>A services and support package is included as part of the contract.
