This year\u2019s Duchy of Cornwall Integrated Annual Report<\/a> broke down the Duke of Cornwall\u2019s earnings for the 2024-2025 financial year. William, 43, officially took on the title as Duke of Cornwall after his father, King Charles III<\/strong>, ascended to the throne in 2022.<\/p>\n

The Duchy of Cornwall is an estate created by King Edward III<\/strong> in 1337, providing funds for the heir to the British throne. Proceeds from the Duchy of Cornwall cover the charitable and private expenses for William, Princess Kate Middleton<\/strong> and their three kids, Prince George<\/strong>, Princess Charlotte<\/strong> and Prince Louis.<\/strong> (The royal family\u2019s overall income is provided by the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant, which is paid out annually.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spent my first few months at the Duchy listening and learning; from colleagues, stakeholders and tenants across the estate,\u201d secretary and keeper of records Will Bex<\/strong> said in his letter released alongside the report. \u201cWorking hand in hand with The Duke, this is a time of reflection and transformation. The monarch\u2019s main source of income comes from a taxpayer-funded settlement known as the Sovereign Grant, which is paid annually. The Sovereign Grant was worth 86.3 million English pounds, or the equivalent of nearly [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

Kensington Palace confirmed to Hello! Magazine this past July that William does, in fact, pay federal taxes on the money<\/a> he receives from the Duchy of Cornwall. It is not required that William discloses details about how much he pays in taxes. (Charles publicly disclosed what he paid in taxes annually while he was in his son\u2019s position from 1993 to 2022.)<\/p>\n

The Sovereign Grant is money paid out by the Crown Estate, a business entity that manages property for the British royal family. Money from the Sovereign Grant doesn\u2019t quite go directly to the family members, rather it\u2019s spent on upkeep for their vast land portfolio and staff costs.<\/p>\n
