Leeds United could now make more than one new signing in the New Year after recent developments at Elland Road.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daniel Farke looked to be heading for the sack at Leeds<\/a> heading into December but the club are now preparing to bring in reinforcements for the German in the New Year. <\/p>\n

Dominic Calvert-Lewin\u2019s made it seven goals in his past six games<\/a> after scoring Leeds\u2019 equaliser against Sunderland<\/a> at the weekend, but the Whites are still looking for help in attack. <\/p>\n

And changes at the back have opened the door to Farke<\/a> adding in defence as well once the market opens.<\/p>\n

According to the latest update from Sky Sports<\/a> Farke\u2019s priority is to add a forward despite Calvert-Lewin<\/a>\u2018s excellent form but a defender could be on the cards in addition. <\/p>\n

The change in formation that has sparked an unbeaten run throughout December, to a 3-5-2, had increased the need for central-defensive options. <\/p>\n

That was compounded by the injury which saw Joe Rodon<\/a> withdrawn at the Stadium of Light, so Leeds<\/a> are now prepared to also sign a new centre-back. <\/p>\n

Sebastiaan Bornauw was linked to a Leeds exit<\/a> despite only arriving in the summer but is now in line to fill in during Rodon\u2019s three-week absence, while Ethan Ampadu can also step in. <\/p>\n

Farke has cited James Justin and Sam Byram as other makeshift possibilities, meaning the club are thought to be happy with their current options but are now \u201copen\u201d to signing another central defender. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Danilho Doekhi<\/a> has been looked at from Union Berlin ahead of his contract expiring in the summer, but a move has reportedly not progressed further at this stage. <\/p>\n

Farke has pulled off something of a miracle to completely turn things around at Elland Road<\/a>, even if fans might think he could have done so a lot sooner. <\/p>\n

The 49ers<\/a> would have been understandably reticent to spend money on an outgoing manager if the German\u2019s fate was still in the balance, since Paraag Marathe was at the club during the Jesse Marsch debacle three years ago. <\/p>\n

So for Leeds to be working on plans to bring new players in for Farke it is the latest evidence that he has saved his job.<\/p>\n

But he will have to keep it up as he heads into arguably the most risky period he will face, as two or three losses on the bounce now could see the owners hastily replace him while there is still time to get a new manager in while the window is open. <\/p>\n

Calvert-Lewin has been worth his weight in gold, although he hasn\u2019t been alone, but another goal scorer would fortify this side to one of the Englishman\u2019s unfortunate runs of injury luck rearing its head. <\/p>\n
