A popular Greater Manchester bar has been forced to apologise to customers after announcing it will need to shut before midnight during this evening\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve celebrations.<\/p>\n
The Hideout, situated on Sherborne Street in Prestwich<\/a>, first opened its doors in October last year and has become a popular bar and eatery since then. It regularly hosts live music and hosts popular events, like bingo nights, karaoke and DJ sets.<\/p>\n The venue had originally been due to stay open until 1.30am this evening (December 31) so that customers could ring in the start of the year in style. However, bosses have now had to update those who had been intending to visit by saying they will need to close at 11pm instead.<\/p>\n Apologising for the \u2018inconvenience caused\u2019, the venue said that it had been met with a licensing issue that means they cannot stay open any later. The staff said they had been \u2018pushing every option\u2019 to make a later closing possible, but it has not proven to be successful.<\/p>\n Posting on social media, The Hideout wrote: \u201cDue to a licensing issue, we can\u2019t stay open past 23:00. We\u2019ve pushed every option, but it\u2019s just not possible. We\u2019re open all day and Mike Tracey will still be bringing the vibes from 19:00\u201323:00. We\u2019re really sorry for the inconvenience \u2013 absolutely gutted we can\u2019t see in the New Year with you.\u201d<\/p>\n Hideaway\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve event had been originally planned as an ‘unforgettable night of music’, with free entry and ‘non-stop tunes’. The venue is run by siblings Steven, Joanne and Michelle Monks, who were also behind the Hideaway Coffee Bar on Bury<\/a> New Road for \u2018four brilliant years of trading\u2019 until it closed back in June<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n Set in the former Hob Nobs night spot, popular in the 90s, the bar is located above the Chin Chin wine bar, which was formerly the popular Dokes pizzeria<\/a>. At the time of announcing the plans for the bar, Steven said the venue would serve brunch and small bites, and would be open for most of the week.<\/p>\n He also said that he felt that things were \u2018positive for hospitality businesses\u2019 in Prestwich\u2019. As well as hosting a range of Christmas<\/a> specials, like festive hanging kebabs, burgers and cocktails, the venue has also in recent months held a range of special events, including a Halloween quiz and a Prestwich Pride takeover. They also regularly have Kids Eat Free specials throughout the year.<\/p>\n For those who are still on the hunt for a last-minute New Year’s bash to attend this evening, we have rounded up a list of some of the best events taking place<\/a> in the city – including a masquerade ball, a throwback to the 2000s, and even a High Times gala in the form of a ‘1920s soiree’.
