In\u00a0late October, a\u00a0similar \u201cwindow of\u00a0silence\u201d allowed engineers to\u00a0end the tenth\u2014and longest\u2014complete loss of\u00a0off-site power experienced by\u00a0the Zaporizhzhya plant since the start of\u00a0Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion.<\/p>\n

This latest repair effort restored electricity transmission between the plant\u2019s switchyards and the neighboring Zaporizhzhya Thermal Power Plant, two weeks after the line was severed amid military activity. The connection is\u00a0considered vital, as\u00a0it\u00a0provides a\u00a0key supply route via one of\u00a0the plant\u2019s two remaining external power lines, a\u00a0330-kilovolt system.<\/p>\n

IAEA experts stationed at\u00a0the site monitored the operation, which began early Sunday and concluded Monday afternoon after technicians repaired both the damaged transmission line and a\u00a0separate malfunction involving an\u00a0autotransformer at\u00a0the plant\u2019s switchyard.<\/p>\n
