The soldier fell off the horse, after which the explosives-packed drone crashed into him. Further FPV drone video showed the soldier\u2019s body lying in the snow. <\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">\u201cThanks to the professionalism of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade\u2019s drone operator, not a single horse was injured,\u201d the brigade added. <\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">However, another video shared by the brigade seemed to show that a horse was injured or killed in an explosion alongside the Russian soldier it was carrying. The fate of a third mounted soldier was unclear. <\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The prevalence of Russian and Ukrainian FPV drones has created a vast \u201ckill zone\u201d where nothing can move without being targeted.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Russian war correspondent Semyon Pegov at a meeting in Moscow.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/\/ecc7bdd1-0128-4644-b70f-12ff323a372b.jpg\" class=\"responsive-sc-1nnon4d-0 bAbKns\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Semyon Pegov, a pro-war Russian blogger<\/p>\n<p>GAVRIIL GRIGOROV\/SPUTNIK\/AFP\/GETTY IMAGES<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Russian soldiers were first reported to be training horseback troops in October. Semyon Pegov, a pro-war Russian blogger, said a commander identified only as \u201cKhan\u201d had begun using horses to carry out combat missions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">\u201cHorses see well at night, don\u2019t need roads to accelerate on the final approach and their instincts can, reportedly, help them avoid mines,\u201d he wrote.
