An investigation into the tragedy is now underway with police issuing an appeal<\/p>\n

Tributes are continuing to pour in for a man who died in a New Year’s Eve horror crash<\/a> in Salford<\/a>. Michael Page, 48, tragically lost his life in the collision<\/a> on Cadishead Way in Irlam at around 7:15am this morning (Wednesday, December 31).<\/p>\n

Mr Page, who has been named by friends, was the driver of a car which Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) said ‘collided with a roundabout which caused him to veer off the road.’<\/p>\n

Emergency services rushed to the scene<\/a>, near Irlam Locks, but Mr Page could not be saved. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers. The passenger in the car, a 50 year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital, GMP said.<\/p>\n

Mr Page, described as an ‘absolute legend’ by heartbroken pals, can now be pictured for the first time. Scores of tributes continue to be paid to him social media.<\/p>\n

One friend said on the Manchester Evening News Facebook page: “RIP Pagey. Thoughts to your family and everyone who knew you. Top lad.” Another said: “R.I.P Pagey\u2026had some funny times in school. Sleep tight mate xx.”<\/p>\n

A third said: “Rest in peace pagey you absolute legend xx” A fourth said: “Rip Mike got so many good memories with u in school always walked me home so sad to here this terrible news thinking of all ur loved ones x” Whilst a fifth added: “R.I P pagey another gone to soon. Hope the lady pulls through xxx”<\/p>\n

Cadishead Way remains closed from Irlam Wharf Road to the B5320 Liverpool Road this evening, with a cordon in place, whilst investigation work continues.<\/p>\n

“Investigators are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist their investigation” GMP said in a new statement released this evening.<\/p>\n

“They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any CCTV footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or Ring doorbell footage from the area in the moments leading up to the incident” they continued.<\/p>\n
