\u201cThe fence, as it is currently located\/constructed, has a significant adverse impact on our daily lives as well as our own property.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn summary, our objection is based on the impact of the oppressive height of the fence, the proximity of the fence, the standard of finish and appearance and the lack of maintenance access to the area of ground between the properties.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur hope would be that planning approval for the fence in its current location and form should be rejected and that the necessary work to relocate and alter the height of the fence, considering the overall height relative to ground level, should be completed without delay.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf required, we would hope to engage in constructive discussion with the applicant.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Dunwoodie added: \u201cWhilst we fully understand the applicant\u2019s desire for security and privacy and are willing to approach our objection with a constructive mindset, there are several significant factors regarding the existing construction that we strongly oppose.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would also note that we have not and do not object to any other construction work that has proceeded or is due to proceed as part of this or other planning applications.\u201d<\/p>\n
A planning letter from East Renfrewshire Council said: \u201cThe 1.8m high timber fence is screened from the public road by a hedgerow that is currently establishing and will, upon reaching maturity, provide visual screening.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fence to the south and east of the site is screened by the existing hedging. However, to the north, the site is elevated above the public road and the fence is set back behind a stone-built wall.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this point, the hedging has yet to become established and the fence remains a prominent feature when viewed from the neighbouring opposite.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is therefore considered appropriate to reduce the fence height to 1.6m in this location to lessen its visual impact until the planting matures.
\u201cThis reduction in height is shown on an amended site plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
The council has given Capaldi the green light to build the sun room extension to his property.<\/p>\n

Last year he was given permission to build a triple garage to house his car collection.<\/p>\n
