A Liverpool ONE has shut suddenly after operating for more than half a decade at the popular shopping complex. Superdry moved into the South John Street back in 2017, having called Paradise Street home before this.<\/a><\/p>\n It opened into the 10,000 sq ft space eight years ago, to make room for what is now JD Sports.<\/a> The fashion chain for men and women prides itself on blending \u201cvintage Americana with Japanese and British inspirations\u201d.<\/p>\n Inside the city centre store, shoppers could pick up everything from jeans, t-shirts and hoodies to accessories, jumpers and even scents. However, this is no longer the case with the brand now having officially closed its doors over the last few days for the last time.<\/p>\n The ECHO understands Superdry<\/a> closed just after Boxing Day. The company had held a sale in the lead up to Christmas, but now a sign in the windows simply informs customers: \u201cThis store is now closed\u201d.<\/p>\n The Liverpool ECHO reached out to Superdry and Liverpool ONE<\/a> for comment. The city store is listed as being permanently closed and has now been removed from Superdry\u2019s website, with the closest store now being Ellesmere Port.<\/p>\n However, it is not all bad news as just a few doors down, Liverpool ONE recently teased a newcomer was heading to the shopping centre to replace the former Sports Direct.<\/p>\n In October, customers saw the retail giant Sports Direct bid farewell to its longstanding home within the city centre complex.<\/a> The brand moved just a five-minute walk from where it was previously located for over a decade.<\/p>\n The sports equipment and clothing retailer was one of the first companies to open inside the shopping destination, first welcoming customers through its doors back in 2008.<\/p>\n The new shop, found in the former M&S site<\/a>, opened to the public on Friday, October 17, after months of anticipation.<\/p>\n Inside, customers will find everything from Adidas, Puma, Boss, Calvin Klein, Converse, and Nike. The top floor of M&S’ former home<\/a> is also now occupied by an Everlast Gym, which boasts an official HYROX<\/a> centre.<\/p>\n However, while all eyes have been on the new venue, the question remains what will happen to its former home. There are now new posters plastered over the windows, reading: \u201cGet ready, an exciting new shop is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n The ECHO previously reached out to both Sport Direct and Liverpool ONE<\/a> to ask what was next for the space.
