A man has been arrested and is in custody<\/p>\n

Three people have been seriously injured after they were attacked in Middleton<\/a>. Police said they were called to Manchester Old Road in Rhodes to reports of an assault at around 1.30am this morning (Thursday, January 1).<\/p>\n

Officers found two men – one in his 20s and one in his 60s – and a woman in her 30s, with serious injuries. They were taken to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

The car park on Chapel Street, in front of the parade of shops on Chapel Walk, and close to The Carters Arms pub, remains taped off this afternoon<\/a> as enquiries continue. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and is currently in custody for questioning.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News understands there is no suggestion of a knife or any other weapon being used during the alleged assaults. Two blue police forensic tents were seen inside the cordon early on New Year’s Day. They have now been removed but the cordon remains in place.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) are appealing for anyone who may be able to help detectives with their enquiries to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “Investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

“Officers are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident outside or relevant events inside the premises to report it to the police via 101 or our Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk<\/a>, quoting log 3529 of 31\/12\/2025.<\/p>\n
