Meet the adorable baby born on New Year\u2019s Day. Mum Amy Doherty and dad Bryan Doherty, from Norris Green<\/a>, welcomed their son Oscar into the world this morning at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.<\/p>\n Oscar was born at 10.15am and his arrival<\/a> was a bit of a surprise <\/a>for the couple<\/a>. Amy, 27, said: \u201cHe was due on the 27th and we thought, you\u2019ll come on Christmas Day. Obviously New Year is the next best time to have a baby. Everyone said, it\u2019ll be this day, it\u2019ll be that day but no-one said New Year\u2019s Day.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite<\/a> his late arrival<\/a>, Amy described<\/a> Oscar as \u201cchilled\u201d, adding: \u201cHe\u2019s just had his bottle and gone back to sleep.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s weird because he came so fast. We were like, oh, it’ll be hours and hours away and then he turned up. I was like, oh my God, there’s a baby right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Oscar has an older sister Olivia. On how they feel about parenting another child, Amy laughed and said: \u201cIt\u2019s scary. She\u2019s only 11 months old but it\u2019ll be nice for them to grow up so close in age as well.\u201d<\/p>\n They chose Oscar’s name in a moment of inspiration as they started booking a trip to Cyprus for the wedding of Bryan\u2019s brother. Amy said: \u201cWe needed to book passports and holidays so we had to pick a name early.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan, 33, said: \u201cWe wanted him to have the same initials as his sister – she\u2019s OG as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Amy said: \u201cOscar was the first name we picked and we were like, you know what? That actually works. It\u2019s a little bit different.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan described the care they’d received at Liverpool Women\u2019s as “absolutely amazing\u201d.<\/p>\n Looking ahead to his brother’s wedding, he added: \u201cIt\u2019ll be the first international holiday with two babies.
